Hejje.
Märker till min bestörtning att min dator inte hittar min CD-brännare när jag har startat Windows. Så här ligger det till:
Jag har två Windowsinstallationer, en äldre med SP1 och en nyare ren ominstallation som jag har patchat upp till SP2. Av någon anledning så hittar inte min nya Windowsinstallation min CD-brännare. När jag tittar i Enhetshanteraren så saknas CD-brännaren, och följdaktligen kan jag heller inte avinstallera den där (vilket har föreslagits i vissa topics på andra sidor). Att scanna efter ny maskinvara ger inget resultat. Den finns bara inte helt enkelt. När jag startar upp den äldre Windowsinstallationen (den som bara har SP1 installerat) så funkar brännaren utan problem och både skriver och läser för glatta livet. För övrigt har jag Nero installerat, uppdaterad med SP2-patchen.
Jag har snokat runt på google men hittar inga intressanta artiklar, men så kanske jag bara har idétorka när jag skriver in sökord. Eller nåt.
För er som eventuellt snokar lite: Jag har inga upper och lower filter. Jag brukar använda Daemon Tools med upp till 3 drives utan problem. Jag har testat nån slags neros registry fixer, men den verkar inte göra nånting, och den hjälper heller inte.

Mjo.. det enda jag hittar där är att de tipsar om att pilla på ett par ställen i registret. Men felbilden stämmer inte riktigt med mitt problem där. Deras förslag bygger på att man ser CD-RWn i Enhetshanteraren... men för mig finns den inte där heller.

Låter grymt märkligt.. det enda jag kan komma på är om XP SP2 av någon anledning tagit bort stödet för CD-brännaren för att den är gammal eller dylikt.
Vad är det för brännare?

Philips CDRW1600... Lycka till med att hitta drivare till den... 
Köpt för et eller två år sedan.
Grymt märkligt är det. Men jag är inte ensam om det. Verkar dock inte finnas så bra lösningar på det. Exempel på trådar jag har kollat i nedanför. Verkar dock finnas två typer av fel som folk blandar ihop i dessa trådar: vissa ser CDn i enhetshanteraren men inte i Utforskaren. Dessa kan oftast lösa sina problem. Sen är det "vi" som inte hittar CDn ens i Enhetshanteraren.

Båda dokumenten bygger på att man hittar CDn i Enhetshanteraren. Vilket jag inte gör. Följdaktligen kan de där två dokumenten inte hjälpa mig

Have you tried a different IDE cable also are the jumpers set correctly. Also update the Chipset drivers for your motherboard. Auto detect should work fine cd rom reader from bios is ok. Have you used any drivers from windows update sometimes they dont work correctly. Let me know how you make out.

Tydligen avinstallerade han något program som trixade med ATA-drivisarna eller liknande. Hans lösning var att avinstallera drivrutinerna.
Detta kan vara lite svårt så kanske jaga rätt på moderkortetdrivrutinerna och installera de igen. Annars kan du testa att installera XP och SP2 utan att ha CD-brännaren inkopplad. Sen när allt är klart så kan du testa att koppla in den och se om XP hittar den då istället.
Följande var en sista kommentar till tråden. Jag vet inte om den har någon betydelse men det skadar ju inte att ha med den.

Exit Registry Editor and restart the computer. If full CD writing functionality has not been restored, it may be necessary to remove the CD writing software and install again . |

Tänkte testa att installera ett tredje Windows och se vad som händer. (Eller snarare installera om mitt tredje windows.)
Det där med upper och lower filters har jag redan provat. Skrev det i första posten

Där satt den. När jag installerade om och hade mig senast så installerade jag nVidias nForce 5.10 Unified driver till moderkortet. Innehåller drivisar för ljud, nätverkskort, SATA och bland annat nånting som pillar med ATA-drivrutinerna.

Nej men hörru.. ta och ge dig kompis. Det är en väldig skillnad på Den här datorn/Utforskaren/My computer och Enhetshanteraren/Device manager.
Det stämmer som du har rödmarkerat att jag inte ser enheten i "the My computer window". Vidare: Additionally, there may be question marks on the devices that are listed under CD-ROM drives in Device Manager. Kruxet som jag har repeterat ett par gånger är att enheten helt och hållet försvinner även från Enhetshanteraren... *borta* *puff* *försvunnen* Jag har inte ens något avsnitt för CD-enheter alls. Än mindre några frågetecken. Jag hade varit lycklig om jag hade ett frågetecken på CD-enheten... Spik i foten? pffft
Fixen som finns på MSs hemsida funkar säkert bra... till helt andra problem. Till mitt problem hjälpte det inte.
Jag har rätt, du har fel Sak samma, problemet är funnet.

Kabel? Öh nej. För det första skulle CD-enheten inte fungera klockrent i andra windows då. För det andra så skrev jag fyra inlägg upp att problemet låg i drivrutinerna som nVidia själva släppt till sina egna komponenter. Ok, jag skrev det inte övertydligt kanske... men det jag menade var att det var nForce-drivisarnas fel.
